Ensemble Piano solo
Woven was composed in collaboration with choreographer Kait Yankello, creating a dance piece of the same name. The dance was a duet in which both dancers started together, yet almost immediately began feeling pulled apart. This pulling expands and expands until both dancers are almost completely independent of each other. As the music reaches its climax, the dancers rush together and collapse into an embrace. The piece ends with the dancers returning to opening stance, entwined together, just as the music returns to its opening motive, but both the dancers and the music are clearly altered by the events that pulled originally pulled them apart.
